2021 was an exciting year for Jungle Disk. In the fall, we acquired J2’s B2B cloud backup business – a group including OffsiteDataSync, KeepItSafe and LiveVault – entities with proven data backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for midmarket and enterprise customers.

This dramatically expanded our collective geographic footprint, product portfolio and ability to scale and protect customers in even the most heavily regulated industries.

Then, as the final days ticked away, we got some additional news to celebrate. Jungle Disk was named a finalist in the San Antonio Business Journal’s (SABJ) “2021 Business of the Year Awards.”

As the SABJ highlighted in its announcement of the finalists, 2021 was not a typical year. The pandemic increased demands on organizations to innovate, grow and change. As the publication noted: “Businesses of all sizes and industries had to find a way to serve their customers with limited supplies, sudden swings in demand and limited workers.” The 15 finalists selected by the SABJ editorial team succeeded by overcoming the challenges in remarkable ways.

In a sneak preview profiling the companies, the SABJ discussed how the recent acquisitions cemented our stature as one of the largest privately-owned tech companies in a city that we’re proud to call home. In total, the transaction brought more than 30 global data centers to the Jungle Disk mix, enhancing our cloud-to-cloud cybersecurity with the latest cloud backup, DR and mobile endpoint protection services. It also prompted Jungle Disk to expand its headquarters in downtown San Antonio to accommodate both immediate and future growth.

The winner will be announced at a gala being held at San Antonio’s McNay Art Museum on January 26. Regardless of the outcome, we consider this a tremendous honor for both our company and customers — and an auspicious way to kick off the new year. As our CEO Bret Piatt noted in September, “Jungle Disk will greatly enhance the customer experience and provide employees and investors with critical mass and greater resources for future growth.”
